About Me

Young man with red hair, smiling, wearing a black jacket, standing outdoors at Kerid Crater in Iceland.

Hello hello! I’m Nathan.

I don’t quite fit the mould of your average content writer or copywriter. And maybe that’s exactly what you need.

I studied Psychology and Theatre at Lewis & Clark College (Roll Pios!) because I’ve always been fascinated by people and their stories. Getting a chance to immerse myself in these fields has given me a deeper understanding of human behavior and creativity, helping me connect with others in meaningful ways.

Now, I’m looking for opportunities to apply what I’ve learned in the classroom to real-life projects as a freelance writer, turning words into results.

Fun Facts:

  • The name Styx & Stones Studio comes from a mix of my mom’s favorite saying when I was growing up – “sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me” – and my childhood nickname “Styx” (which I got from my last name, DeStigter, and my love of Greek Mythology, thanks to the Percy Jackson series)

  • While I’m currently based out of Austin, Texas, I’ve lived in 8 states in my life (Ohio, Colorado, Arizona, Wisconsin, Oregon, California, New Mexico, and Texas).

  • When I was in high school, I was an exchange student in Italy and lived on the Adriatic Coast.

  • As seen here, right after graduating college, I was once a supernumerary in a professional production of The Marriage of Figaro in Portland, Oregon.

  • I recently spent a few months working as a background actor in New Mexico.

  • I can speak and read a bit of Dutch (Ik kan een beetje Nederlands spreken en lezen).

  • While I don’t consider myself much of a photographer, I took every photo you see on this website!
